Week 7

This will be my most challenging week so far when it comes to training and it repeats with the same schedule next week. I’m convincing myself that I only need to focus on one thing at a time and to not let myself stress out over what is yet to come. Be present, stay focused, it’ll all come together.

One thing that is a priority this week is getting back to a Miracle Morning routine. I used to do this and found it really beneficial in starting my day less stressed, more productive and more focused. In the summer, I feel like I am chasing my tail with driving my kids around, trying to squeeze in fun stuff, keep a clean house, stay organized and keep to my running schedule. It’s a lot to manage and remain a nice person to be around…

An additional thing that I’ve been working on at home is minimizing and I’ve been doing really well with this. I’ve found that having less “stuff” around home results in me cleaning and organizing less. Cody’s room was the project last week/this weekend and it looks much better now. He decided to get rid of many small things that he doesn’t use and we were even able to get rid of a cube shelf that used to be full of stuff. I also completely cleaned out our silverware drawer and the area under our sink that was a mess and got rid of a few things, cleaned it and organized it. Same with the medicine cabinet last week. It feels good to walk into a space or to open a door and to not be consumed with chaos and clutter.

Today was day 1 when it comes to my Miracle Morning routine – yay! I got up at 5:30, made a cup of detox tea, meditated with the Insight Timer app, did my affirmations through Think Up, focused on my vision board, journaled and read for 15 minutes. I’ll be doing my physical activity portion over my lunch break with a strength training session.

Here is an outline of why my week of training looks like this week:

Monday – Rest (yoga & weights)

Tuesday – 4

Wednesday – 8

Thursday – 4 (4.25)

Friday – Rest

Saturday – 22 (22)

Sunday – 10 (10)

Miles Scheduled – 48

Actual Miles – 48.25

4 miles first thing in the morning – easy peasy!

I knew the 8 miles that were scheduled for Wednesday would be a challenge. It was my turn to drive Dominik to weight lifting, work, run some errands with Cody, pick Dominik up from work and go back and forth to vacation bible school in the evening. The mom taxi had lots of stops…and work! The only way that I could squeeze it in would be a really early run – starting around 4:30 am so that I could get home around 6, make sure my boys are up and get in a 5 minute shower before heading out the door with them. I’m happy to report that I got it done 🏃🏼‍♀️

When you are worried that one alarm is not enough…
Any guesses on how early deer flies wake up? Sunrise! Just after 5 am they started swarming and I had at least 4 painful bites by the time I got home.
I’ll be honest, I wasn’t feeling it this morning! I actually decided to do yoga instead and make up my run tomorrow. Sometime during my yoga practice and meditation, I made the decision that I’d better get it done so that I could fully enjoy my rest day tomorrow before my long runs on Saturday and Sunday. Holy sweat fest though, it’s gross out there! The sweat cannot evaporate into the air, it just runs down your body.
My four legged Miracle Morning companions 🙂
22 miles or bust! I was so relieved to see a little bit of rain heading our way when I set out for my run. It took until I was on my second loop for it to finally start to come down, but it helped keep the flies down and kept me cool.
After my long run, we stopped by the Roundhouse Brewery and had a well deserved brew after taking Cody to the zoo.
Final run of the weekend – 10 miles! That rounds out 48.25 miles for the week. Guess what? I get to do it all again next week!
